Wartburg College Women’s Basketball to play FC Barcelona in Spain!
Wartburg College Women’s Basketball will embark on a trip to Spain May 26. The team will play legendary sport club FC Barcelona’s women’s basketball team while on the trip! FC Barcelona is primarily known for its famous soccer team, but the club has produced great basketball teams as well. Notable former FC Barcelona female players include Marta Fernández (LA Sparks), Helen Luz (for WNBA player), Razija Mujanović (Bosnia) and Érika de Souza (currently with Atlanta Dream in WNBA). Notable male players from FC Barcelona include Pau and Marc Gasol and Ricky Rubio, all currently playing in the NBA. In addition to playing games while in Barcelona the Wartburg College Women’s team will see famous Barcelona sights including La Sagrada Familia, Las Ramblas, Parque Guell and Montserrat, the famous mountain-top monastery near Barcelona.
