The German national basketball team's biggest successes are the victory in the European Championship of 1993 at home in Germany, the silver medal in the 2005 European Championships and the bronze medal in the 2002 FIBA World Championship. German internationals who have played in the NBA include Detlef Schrempf, Uwe Blab and Christian Welp. Dirk Nowitzki is also a German native that has become a star in the NBA. Nowitzki has inspired Germany to win the bronze medal in the 2002 World Championships, and was also named MVP of that tournament.

Bavaria, the southernmost German state, and its capital Munich, stand apart from the rest of the country. The difference includes a more relaxed lifestyle. Visitors linger for hours in beer gardens, eating, singing and meeting new friends. Munich's basketball scene is just as special.

Cologne is a 2000-year-old city whose beauty is both natural (it sits on the Rhein River) and manmade (the riverfront Alstadt is dominated by the spectacular Dom towers). Basketball teams traveling here are sure to enjoy Cologne's rich mix of ancient history and modern basketball.
