Italy is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. Some experts say that 50% of the world's artistic heritage is in Italy. Rome, Venice, Florence, Verona ... Bella Italia! Italy has won 2 Gold medals, 4 Silver medals and 4 Bronze medals at the European Championships and 2 Silver medals at the Olympic Games, and has participated at 34 Eurobaskets, 8 World Championships and 11 Olympic Games. Altogether, Italy has won more Eurobasket medals than any other country that competes today. Italy is also home to the Lega Basket Serie A (English: Basket League A Series) which is the highest level club competition in Italian professional basketball where play determines the national champion. Italian natives Andrea Bargnani, Maro Belinelli and Danilo Gallinari are all current NBA players.
Tuscany is one of the most photogenic areas of Europe, and the center of the Italian peninsula. It represents a special blend of beauty and millennia-old monuments. Florence, the main Tuscan city, famous for its cultural treasures, has been called an open-air museum surrounded by a medieval wall, with free entry. Yet it is also a dynamic place, filled with energy and life.
The name "Venice" means magic: gondolas gliding over canals, impressive cathedrals, century-old monuments, innumerable islands connected by breathtaking bridges, a beautiful square that seems to sink into the sea.
