Trinidad and Tobago consist of two Caribbean islands located just off the northeastern coast of Venezuela. The islands are famous for their beautiful beaches, vibrant culture, and diverse natural attractions. While the Trinidad and Tobago national basketball team has not yet qualified for the FIBA World Cup or the Olympic Games, it has been successful in regional competition. The team has won six total medals in the Caribbean Basketball Championship, including four consecutive gold medals from 1986 to 1990, placing it second on the all-time medal list behind the Bahamas.

One of the most notable basketball figures with roots in Trinidad and Tobago is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Although he represented the United States and played his entire professional career in the NBA, his father was born in Trinidad and Tobago, and his family heritage links him to the islands.
