Wartburg College Women's Basketball playing FC Barcelona in Spain!

The Wartburg College (Iowa) Women’s Basketball team recently returned from a very memorable trip to Barcelona, Spain. While in Barcelona, they played 3 games against Spanish women’s basketball teams, highlighted by a game against the women’s basketball team from well-known sports club FC Barcelona!! The team also played basketball teams from Esportiu Joventut L’Hospitalet and Esportiva Sant Cugat. The Wartburg team finished the trip with 2 wins and 1 loss, the only defeat being a 2-point loss to the FC Barcelona team.

While in the Barcelona area the ladies had plenty of time to experience the Spanish culture and well known sights including a visit to the old medieval city of Girona, some leisure time on the beaches of the Costa Brava and, of course, taking in the sights of Barcelona like Plaza Espanya, the Olympic Stadium, Castillo de Montjuich, Columbus’ statue, Parque Guell and Gaudi’s unfinished Sagrada Familia Cathedral.
