Lakeland University Women’s Basketball Team finally traveled to Ireland!

After having to postpone their planned tour to Ireland twice, Lakeland University Women’s Basketball Team finally traveled to Ireland to visit Dublin, Cork, and Galway. The team was thrilled and could not wait to travel after 2 years of limited or no travel at all.

Headlining the tour were the games set up by Premier International Tours where Lakeland University played games against Glanmire Ladies and the Irish U18 and U20 National teams. The players from both Ireland and the USA relished the chance to play against international competition, but more importantly, socially and culturally connect again with their piers from around the globe, which is what it’s all about! In addition to the 3 games, the itinerary included a good mix of cultural and sightseeing activities, with visits to Trinity College including entry to the Book of Kells, Ireland’s greatest cultural treasure, the Guinness Factory, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, followed by the Jameson’s Distillery, Blarney Castle, and the Cliffs of Moher. After the tour, Head Coach Amber Peterson, commented “Thank you so much for all your help leading up to the trip and throughout it. We can't thank you enough for everything!”.
